Default 1200 + IEC 61850 device connection to Energy Edition

Has anyone attempted to connect 1200 plus 61850 devices  to redundant zenon energy edition systems? Is there a front end com device normally used?
I don't see adding the number of 61850 driver instances required for 20 devices each

    Thanks for any advice

    Dave

The limit are not the drivers, the limit would be the performance of this particular core of the CPU where the zenon Runtime (Service Engine) runs the main thread. This load depends on what your project is doing with variables, e.g. alarming, historian, process gateways, API etc.

this screenshot shows how it looks in Task Manager when zenon project is designed for quantity of variables and tasks that the main thread of the runtime is occupying the CPU logical core 0 constantly (about 80% load by general high CPU frequency: 2.8 of 3.3 GHz). This system still works stable; but only as long the CPU temperature < 55C. In summer there could be a problem
The summary CPU utilization is <10%, so theoretically you could start many more windows applications, like 1000 more instances of a zenon process driver but... you can not. This PC is close at max performance limit just because of main thread coordinating all the process data transfers between modules/services.

solution: zenon project are scalable, you can decentralize it. You can split a too large project to run as multi-project - on few zenon network servers. Help: manual/network ... Multi-Project Administration
