How to assign a certain entry in an archive to a variable?

Hello,

I have an archive for a certain variable, is it possible to creat a variable that reads and holds the value of a certain entry in the archive? (for example, the variable should hold the value of the most recent entry in the archive). 
I am using the 8.10 version of Zenon.

Are you using an event triggered archive?
if yes, you can use the archive trigger also as variable allocation trigger.

The archive I am creating saves the value of a variable at 00:00 every day. I need the latest falue of this archive to use it as a variable in other calculations. 
anything that can do this for me is fine. 
Can the event trigger be time? (i.e. when the global time is 00:00)

You could use a report that is executed in the backgroud to do this.

I opted to using the Report Generator + Variablerw function to achieve this.
