Default Converting of IEC61850 integer values into Bit wise

    Dear
We have almost 900 IED in a project each having four function blocks to combine digital alarms and send it as integer value via 61850 to Zenon.
1-I need to know if Zenon logic has a standard Function blocks to reconvert the integer values back to bit wise that i can define them as  alarms.
2-If with this number of IEDs, Do i need to run Zenon logic in a separate PC.

Example of the function block available in the IED, which convert 16 bit alarms into integer value.

    Regards,
    Adel

    Dear Adel,

You can use the functions SERIALIZEOUT to get the bit values from the integer variable and SERIALZEIN to store them to other variables, e.g. STRATONNG variables which can be configured to create the alarms in zenon.

    zenon Logic Workbench documentation:
IEC 61131-3 Programming Environment > Programming - Reference guide > Advanced operations > SerializeOut
IEC 61131-3 Programming Environment > Programming - Reference guide > Advanced operations > SerializeIn

There is hardly one definitive answer to your second question.
This strongly depends on the system ressources (memory, cpu, ...), ressource use (other applications), and the intended zenon topology (zenon version(s), one or more projects active, redundant servers, number and activity of connected clients, ...) and functionality (archiving, reporting, alarm evaluation, number and rate of events from the IEDs, ...).

    Best regards,
    Leo

    Hi Leo

The architecture contains two redundant servers and zenon Web-server all are installed in virtual environment.
1- in this case does an additional server is enough to run zenon logic on it, or do i need redundant servers to improve system availability ?

    Regards,
    Adel.
