    Default IEC 60870-5-101 Line Redundancy

We are designing a SCADA system for substation with Zenon Energy Edition V8.0. Client wants that, SCADA will get signals from field devices with IEC60870-5-101 protocol. There are 2 serial ports on the computer and also field devices have 2 serial ports. If one of the line is broken, the other one will continue to communicate with SCADA.

Line redundancy is possible with Zenon?

    Hello Konsistek,

    welcome to COPA-DATA Forum.

In this case, I would use the COPA-DATA Alternative Datapoints Driver, as the ADP driver allows to configure variables that can receive values from different sources, such as variables from the same or different drivers (e.g. IEC870). With the help of a selector variable it is possible to select the variable which will be linked.

In this specific case, I would configure two IEC870 drivers, which assigned to the respective line (COM), and use the ADP driver to toggle between the two connections based on the rules needed (e.g. redundancy).

You can find the ADP documentation in zenon help topic Drivers > ADP.

    I hope this helps you.

    Best regards,
    David Cerdeira
