Default Limit Text - Display ID or Name of variable

I have many pages with the same layout and I need to be able to display the limit text (I can do this already) and the ID of the variable. I thought I'd be able to create a link text and just tell it to display the ID of the variable rather than the limit but I can't find the option.

The only way I can think of is to embed the ID within the limit text itself. Is there a better way to do this like what I initially thought above?

you can display either the name or the identification of a variable linked to the combi-element with a specific syntax. Set the combi-element to "statustext & symbol" and use the following syntax at the default state

    %n - shows the variablename
%n,1,2 - shows the variablename from position 1 for 2 characters
    %N - shows the variablename
%N,3,2 - shows the variablename excluding the first 3 leading characters and excluding the traling 2 characters

%l - shows the variable identification
%l,1,2 - shows the variable identificationzeigt from position 1 for 2 characters
%L - shows the variable identification
%L,3,2 - shows the variable identification excluding the first 3 leading characters and excluding the traling 2 characters

Why can't I do a language table lookup in the combi element using:

    @%n

When I have the language table set up with variable names as keywords.

    It just displays "%n"

you will find that with the @ in front of %n, the %n will turn in a normal keyword for the language change.

generally, the variable name must be unique and language change is not possible with the variable name.

when you've tried with the identification and %l, you will see, that the text also displayed as "@variable identification" in the combi-element, instead of the translated text. The reason is, that the %l is a special keyword for the combi element and displays the variable name or identification "as is", as it is possible with the syntax to display only parts of the variable names / identification.

What is it, that you exactly want to achieve? Maybe there is another solution
