Frage Message control using USB GSM modem

    Hello.
My GSM Modem is USB not Serial. In the manual, noted that only serial GSM modem should be used in message control. Isn't it possible to use usb GSM modem?
    Thans.

Blinzeln AW: Message control using USB GSM modem

    Hey Jessica,

it is possible to use an USB GSM modem.
Also I would recommend it, because as far as I know serial modems are not really state of the art. And that for hard to get!?

Take a look at this thread:
'Modems that are tested by COPA-DATA for message-control'

    Regards,
    Konstantin

    Hello,
Thank you for your response. I checked forum: Modems that are tested by COPA-DATA for message-control but my modem was not listed there!
    My OS:win7/ultimate/SP1/64bit
    Zenon: 7.10 SP0/Build 5560/EnergyEdition
    GSM Modem: D-link DWM-156
This is my device manager after installing device driver:

In: Message Control/SMS Mesage when I select COM3, Face this error in diagviewer:

And when I select COM4, Face this error:

I'm sure about service center number. I also checked this in both modem configurations GSM and UTMS !

I tested GSM modem with another application specialized for sending SMS. It connects and works with COM3 easily!
    .
    What is wrong here?!
    Thanks.

Default AW: Message control using USB GSM modem

    Hey Jessica,

thanks for the very detailed answer.

The COM3 port should be the correct one.
Please ensure that no other software is connected to the modem while you are testing it with zenon runtime.
    Which provider are you using?
Are you really sure you have the correct "Short message service center" number?
Because the error message "The modem returned an error to the AT+CSCA command" indicates that the SMSC number is wrong.

    Best regards,
    Konstantin

    Hey konstantinf,
    Thanks for response.
Yes I am sure no other software is connected and SMSC is correct.
Because I borrow another modem and it worked perfectly (I will add model of this modem to the forum: Modems that are tested by COPA-DATA for message-control)
I also tested my own modem with Zenon 6.5 and it worked perfectly too!
Maybe this modem is not compatible to Zenon 7 !
    Regards,
    Jessica.
