Default Max.Storage time of Alarm Message list & Chronologic event list

    Dear All,

What is the maximum storage time of the Alarm Message list & Chronologic event list...?
Because I removed the Delete button in the Alarm message list and Chronologic event list screen for customer wish. Customer would like to know maximum storage time of these both.

    Best Regards,
    A.Navaneet.

    Dear A.Navaneet,

Basically as long as there is free disk space on the volume where the runtime files are stored

You can use system driver variables to monitor the free disk space.

Usually there are some requirements from the customer like "keep records for x months", or "keep for x years".

You can use the "file operation" function in the zenon runtime to periodically (e.g. every month) delete *.aml and *.cel files, that are older than 36 months. (you could also move the files to a different drive or network storage)

    Best regards,
    Mark

    Dear Mark,

Customer told me to store the event and alarm as long as possible.
Is the zenon runtime delete the stored files automatically if there is no free disk space...?
If it is not possible automatic delete then I try to use the "file operation" function in the zenon runtime to periodically delete *.aml and *.cel files, that are older than 36 months.
Otherwise, if customer provide extra drive i try to move this file.
I write my query on this same post if I have further doubt after trying once...!!!

    Best Regards,
    A.Navaneet.

    Hi A.Navaneet,

No, the zenon runtime will not automatically delete any files.

However if you have a look at an existing runtime, you will find that in general the historical alarms and events are actually quite small.

On a regular industrial PC with a standard size harddrive, you would not likely fill up the free disk space during the lifetime of the industrial PC itself.

You could trigger the move or delete function as a reaction to the limit of the system driver variable that monitors the free disk space. You can define your own time settings for moving or deleting files, it does not have to be 36 months, this was just an example

    Best regards,
    Mark

    Dear Mark,

    I am using zenon 7.00.
I searched the function for deleting *.aml and *.cel files. There are some functions available like "delete alarm", "export aml", "export cel" etc. But I couldn't find any function like file operation. Can you please explain, where do I want look at for this?

    Best Regards,
    A.Navaneet.
