    Frage External IEC 60850 variables names not recognised in ZenonLogic

    I've made externally visible several IEC 60850 variables so that I can do some data type conversions in ZenonLogic. These will then be allocated to IEC 60870 variables.

    The problem is although the variables are visible in ZenonLogic and values visible in runtime, I'm unable to use them within any program blocks FDB, IL, etc. I'm assuming that the problem is that the variable naming convention for 61850 variables do not comply with the IEC 61131-3 standard. Is it possible to use external 61850 variables in ZenonLogic or am I just missing something obvious here?

    I'm using version 7.00 SP0 build 2 of Zenon.

    Hi Dave,

    Depending on the zenon version, you have two or three options available in the driver configuration, where the name for communication to the IEC61850 server is stored.

    When you use the variable identifcation for the communication, you can rename the variable name to a valid name according to the naming conventions in IEC61131-3, and use it in the zenon logic.

    there is another Option.
    You can use the variables as they are in your zenon Logic program, the only thing you need to do, is to put the variables names in { }
    Be Aware of, that you cannot drag&drop these variables into the code. But copy paste the name in the variable box in FBD or copy paste in ST or other language is no problem. Only put it in brackets { }

    Thanks for your quick response guys, much appreciated.

    I knew there must have been a simple solution to this problem.

    I prefer the second solution using the {..} brackets. If I use the first method switching to the identification field for the 61850 address then I would not have a variable description field.

    Of course, I suppose I could always use the resource field for description, but that would require a lot changes to my project.
