Default Zenon Modbus TCP connection to phoenix ILC

    Hi,

I am trying to connect a phoenix ilc 191 with a suetron windows CE panel running Zenon.
The controller can act as a slave and i can write or read coils and registers.
I use the Zenon modbus rtu/tcp driver to be the master.
The problem is that in the manual of the controller they say :

For the memory area of the process data item, please
refer to the documentation of the device that is used as
    a Modbus device.

So how do i make the connection on both sides the same so i can transfer data from controller --> Zenon RT and inverse.

    Thank you,

    Hi jgv,

Welcome to COPA-DATA forum! Wish you the best here!

To connect zenon runtime to a Modbus controller from zenon you need first a driver. The available Modbus drivers can be seen in zenon editor workspace at Variables > Driver > New driver.... The driver must be chosen according, among others, the targeted controller model.

For more information about drivers you can consult zenon online documentation by pressing F1 and selecting the topic Drivers. Here you will find a list of all zenon drivers, as well as, their respective requirements, configuration procedures, variables creation, etc. I strongly recommend you to read it first.

So how do i make the connection on both sides the same so i can transfer data from controller --> Zenon RT and inverse.

After driver configuration is concluded, you need to create and address the variables accordingly the targeted device programming and create screen elements (i.e. Numerical value) in such way you can read/write values from/to PLC in a zenon screen.

    Best regards,
    DC

Default AW: Zenon Modbus TCP connection to phoenix ILC

    Hi,

you need to know the address space of the variables on the controller. For registers this should be something like %MW, for coils %M. If the address on the controller is for example %MW100, then in zenon the offset should be 100. (In some cases the offset is 99.) - Some manufacturers work with bytes instead of words. In this case %MW100 in the plc refers to offset 50 in zenon.

    Best regards,

    Michael
