Default RtFunction substitution, symbol's elements access

    Hello,
I have problem with getting full list of variables used in screen which is substituted. So far, only solution, which I have found, is extraction of variable's names using "ItemVariable" method. It would be quite good solution, but when screen contains LinkedSymbol I need access to symbol in library. Does anybody know how get access to the elements of symbol in project library or maybe I do it wrong. Please help me.

    Hi,

Could you tell a bit more what you try to achieve, and why?

Is this in the runtime, or in the editor?

Linked symbols no longer exist in the runtime.

    Best regards,
    Mark

    Hi,

You would normally use smart naming of functions and variables in order to be able to replace them with substitution using a single string. (e.g. Motor1* with Motor2).

With linked symbols you don't necessarily need to link variables at the symbol itself. You can use e.g. "speed" as a placeholder for the variable at an element in the linked symbol where no variable for "speed" exists in the project, and use the symbol name "Motor1" to link the variable "Motor1.speed" to this instance of the linked symbol in the screen.

Or you use the more common linking rules to replace the variable "Motor1.speed" at the instance of the linked symbol in the screen with "Motor2.speed".

    Best regards,
    Mark
