    Default Installing science package

    Hey there,

When installing the zenon Science Package, the installer wants to install SQL Server Express. I have Visual Studio 2010 Premium installed, which also comes with SQL Server Compact Edition 2005. Is there no way to make the Science Package make use of that instead of installing yet another SQL server next to it?

    Regards,
    Xander

    Hi Xander,

zenon has not been designed to work with the SQL server compact edition.

While it does work with other existing SQL server instances of supported SQL server versions, this does require a manual installation and configuration of both zenon and the existing SQL server.

It is recommended that you use the SQL Server express 2005 edition that comes with the zenon setup, which is automatically installed and configured.

    Best regards,
    Mark

I worked around the issue by installing zenon in a Windows 7 VM.
