View Full Version : Process Gateway: OPC to another protocol

We are need in gateway OPC XML-DA 1.0 (mater side=client) to protocol (slave side=server): or ModbusRTU or IEC60870-5-101 or IEC60870-5-104 or IEC61850.

Please, confirm that Process Gateway can convert OPC XML-DA 1.0 to above protocols.
Thanks in advance.

 who is master and who slave in your system?
Should zenon be OPC DA client or server?
Is zenon using Modbus, IEC870 and IEC850 drivers (master/client) or is using for these protocols process gateway/Logic (slave/server)?

We need to get information from 3rd part system which will be an OPC XML-DA server. Further this information should be used in SCADA and translated to the upper telecontrol system.

So we need to know if process gateway suitable for such purpose.

To acquire data from a 3rd part OPC DA server you can use in zenon the OPC Client driver.

To transfer this data to the upper system:
- zenon Process Gateway MODBUS (slave)
- zenon Process Gateway IEC870 Slave
- in zenon Logic - IEC61850 Server

A variable in zenon (so also variables created - e.g. via online browsing in OPC driver) can be configured in a process gateway as a data point available via protocol of the zenPG. The variable can also be set 'externally visible' and in Logic mapped to a data attribute (variable) of the IEC61850 Server.

Thank you for answer.
One more question. Especially we need to know concerning OPC-DA XML v1.0. Please pay attention to XML specification.

Please clarify is Zenon (ZenPG) able to work with such type of OPC?

Why process gateway
As i wrote for OPC data you have to take driver OPC Client, not process Gateway.
According driver description in Editor driver data sheet (and in Help):
OPC Client V2-0 driver information:
Driver for the communication with OPC Servers.
Supported PLC types:
The OPC Server must have implemented the interface in the version 1.0A or 2.0x

Now everything is clear, thanks for consultation!
